President Aquino has the natural trait not to immediately believe in controversies raised against his friends, after all it is but normal for anybody to have that certain degree of trust on friends. I pray though that he will have the wisdom to discern which friend is genuine and who are those who sought his friendship only for personal gain. Every human experience will tell us that the latter abound. Why would Undersecretary Puno now proclaim that he is willing to take the blame for the hostage fiasco and leave when it would have been laudable if he did it immediately after. It is becoming obvious now that he found it honorable to leave government because of the aforementioned reason than to go, or worst, be asked to leave by reason of the jueteng bribery scandal. The Punos in government, except maybe the former Chief Justice, has already demonstrated their lack of trustworthiness for public office. It should have forewarned P-Noy before making the appointment. Businessmen are mostly always like that. They seek out those they believe they can do business with in the future or at least help open doors for them. It is for us to be constantly wary about these people. While Bishop Cruz refused to name those who are on the take, all suspicions pointed towards Puno. If he is innocent and if he is serious in helping the President push his agenda, being the one given the responsibility over the PNP, he must order a no nonsense investigation on the whole controversy especially when he already knew who these people are, well at least he should because as he said he was approached by many. However he may have forfeited his chance already when he confessed that he was approached but did nothing about it, but at least he may still be able to help his so called friend, the President of the Republic, from the further ebbing of the latter's moral ascendancy.
